AMD ZEN Will be Present at the start of 2017 - News of the latest processors from AMD Zen has been circulating since last year. Many loyal users of AMD are eagerly awaiting the presence of processors on the board. Moreover, coupled with Intel's dominance of the market which kept pounding computer peripheral components, makes the AMD faithful to bite the fingers.

AMD ZEN Will be Present at the start of 2017

At an event in San Francisco, AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) to provide additional detail and an early demo performance architecture of next generation processor is the processor "Zen" high performing. AMD processors show that the "Zen" acquire a 40% increase in instructions per clock, providing a tremendous increase in the performance of the processor.

During the event, AMD demonstrated the desktop processor with 8-core, 16-thread "Summit Ridge" (along with AMD "Zen" core), which outperforms Intel "Broadwell-E" processor1 with the same configuration 8-core, 16-threads when running the software rendering, multi-threaded Blender where both CPUs are set on the same clock speed. AMD also conducted the first public demonstration of the processor-based servers "Zen" which will be available soon with a 32-core, 64-threads, codenamed "Naples," the dual processor server that is running Windows Server operating system.

Processors "Zen" has several architectural advances that are designed to improve the performance, throughput, and efficiency of AMD's future products. "Zen" is based on a clean-sheet design and features a new cache hierarchy, branch prediction techniques are improved and simultaneous multi-threading (SMT). These advances will allow the "Zen" to be able to measure in order to meet the requirements of different applications, including the fanless 2-in-1, embedded systems, high performance computing, and datacenter.

AMD invested if it has the potential, with x86 cores that can adjust from PCs to high-performance servers, "said Linley Gwennap, principal analyst, Linley Group. "Consumers today expect to get the most out of their systems to create a transformative experience. Versatile design 'Zen' provides highly-efficient performance that should provide increased computing capabilities across the spectrum - from devices to cloud computing ".

Expected to be launched first, "Summit Ridge" desktop-based "Zen" will use AMD socket AM4, infrastructure socket new integrated compatible with Generation 7 desktop processors AMD A-Series - previously known by the code name "Bristol Ridge" - for performance outstanding scalability and connectivity required by AMD partners and customers. The first desktop systems featuring the 7th Generation AMD A-Series processor and socket new AM4 scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2016 for the PC OEM designs.

With PCIe® lanes specifically for USB, graphics, data and I / O of other cutting-edge, AMD platform AM4 will not take the path of components and other devices. This allows users to enjoy the system to improve the response and benefits of future-ready technology where AM4 platform provides powerful computing solutions, scalable and reliable.

The main technology owned AM4 AMD platforms include:

  • DDR4 Memory
  • PCIe Gen 3
  • USB 3.1 Gen2 10Gbps
  • NVMe
  • SATA Express

Architectural features "Zen" enhancements are described in more detail in a presentation at the Hot Chips 28.

AMD ZEN

Responding to the issues that continue to emerge, CEO of AMD, Lisa Su said that they will release Zen AMD processors in the near future. As quoted from WCCFtech, Wednesday (10/26/2016), on earnings reports 3rd quarter of year 2016, Lisa Su revealed that AMD will release the Zen in early 2017.

Lisa Su revealed that AMD processors Summit Ridge with this Zen architecture will target the upper class, which will be the flagship of AMD processors in 2017. In addition, the processor will compete directly with some of the flagship Intel processors, which range Core i5 and Core i7 processors , This rumor was actually already circulating in cyberspace a few months ago.

However, from the AMD has not provided any clarification of that point. Now the rumor was finally answered with obvious that loyal fans AMD can prepare everything to welcome the presence of these processors (one of which is money).

Intel itself has been preparing for their seventh-generation processors, Kaby Lake, which is already used by some laptop manufacturers. Reportedly Intel processors will be announced in the near future, at least before the end of 2016.
